This ‘before and after’ approach is Bill Hague’s method – some artists start with the eyes and work outward, whereas Bill feels that the the eyes should be inserted as the finishing touch. Comments welcome!
Update on this topic 12/02/14: this “where do you start first?” theme has provoked quite a lot of discussion. Those people who draw the eyes first are adamant they are right, but as Bill’s approach shows so well, the eyes inserted as the last details works for him. What do you think is the right way?
